About Us

1% for Open Space is a collaboration of over 70 local businesses raising funds to support stewardship and conservation in the Gunnison Valley. Visit our website to see our list of partnering business or become a partner yourself. Set-up is simple, but the reward is great!

To date, the 1% for Open Space program has raised over $2.6 million to help preserve over 10,100 acres throughout Gunnison County, from high mountain meadows to rolling ranchlands. Our funding has assisted trails and open space in areas such as the Lower Loop, Woods Walk, Rec Path, Slate River, Washington Gulch, Kebler Pass, Paradise Divide, Paradise Basin, Yule Lakes, Gunsight Bridge, Gothic and Schofield Park. Additionally we have helped historic ranching families such as Rozman, Guerreri, Niccoli, Peterson, Field, Taramaracaz and Robbins to continue their traditional way of life in the Gunnison Valley.

Pennies at a time, we've raised a million to protect the very reason you came here in the first place.
