High Country Conservation Advocates celebrates its 40th year with a special Double-Header 40th Anniversary Red Lady Salvation Ball. Due to the overwhelming interest in our 40th anniversary event, HCCA is excited to make this Ball a two-night affair. We have much to be thankful for, and we want everyone to celebrate with us! Last year’s tidal wave of positive change in HCCA’s and the community’s 40-year effort to save Red Lady has brought us remarkably close to achieving a long-term, protective solution for our treasured mountain and our valleys. On Thursday, March 9th, please join us for opening night of the Red Lady Ball at the Eldo. HCCA’s house band, the Red Lady Ramblers, will feature local musicians and HCCA advocates Kevin Donovan, Ryan Herr, Tyler Lucas, and Lizzy Plotkin, along with special guests. They play an authentic Gunnison Valley blend of Americana, Roots, and Acoustic Groove. There will be complimentary appetizers, cocktail specials, a photo booth, a spectacular raffle, and the official crowning of Red Lady #40. Doors will open at 7 p.m., with music commencing at 8 p.m. Entry to the Thursday Ball is free to all with a suggested donation of $15 at the door, which includes a specially-priced HCCA annual membership. Then on Friday, March 10th, the String Cheese Incident will take center stage at the Eldo for the exciting climax of the Red Lady Ball. SCI has deep roots in the Crested Butte community, as they began their journey playing at the Center for the Arts and on the slopes of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. SCI also played at our 25th Red Lady Ball in 2002, which has become a legendary concert for HCCA and the community. The second evening, doors open at 7 p.m. as well. Please note, the String Cheese evening of the Red Lady Ball is currently sold out. For the past 40 years, the Red Lady Ball has been HCCA’s signature annual event, helping fund our efforts to save Red Lady. HCCA is honored to have hosted many class acts including Great American Taxi, Euforquestra, the Motet, Marcia Ball, the String Cheese Incident and Red Lady Ramblers. We are incredibly appreciative of the owners and staff of the Eldo for their hospitality in hosting this event and others before it. For more information about the Double-Header 40th Anniversary Red Lady Salvation Ball, please check back here. More information about raffle prizes and purchasing raffle tickets will be posted as the Ball nears. We hope that you will join us in your finest red regalia for either or both nights to make our Double-Header—Double-Redder!
