Chatham County Line conjures a sepia-toned timelessness huddling around a single microphone playing traditional string band instrumentation while clad in suits and ties. For nearly two decades, the Raleigh, North Carolina based outfit consistently crafts top-notch, original modern acoustic music drawing upon American roots forefathers like bluegrass inventor Bill Monroe and folk innovator John Hartford. The quartet is known for its poignant songwriting full of clever lines and compelling vignettes, inventive arrangements, wistful balladry and dynamic toe tappers. Add stellar three and four-part harmonies to impeccable yet unconventional picking and the boys have become a fixture from elegant European concert halls to large American folk festivals where their unspoken chemistry allows for the freedom of improvisation. Chathan Country Line is Dave Wilson (guitar), John Teer (mandolin, fiddle), Chandler Holt (banjo) and Greg Readling (bass). Monday July 3 Show 5:30 pm FREE
