4th of July Celebration in Crested Butte
Crested Butte & Mt. Crested Butte pull out all the stops to celebrate Independence Day.
The day kicks off with getting a full belly at the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Department's Pancake Breakfast from 7 - 10 a.m. at the fire station located at 3rd Street and Maroon Avenue in Crested Butte.
Expect funky, fun and good-natured laughter as people line Crested Butte's Elk Avenue at least four deep to take in the spectacle of the July 4th parade, which begins at 11 a.m.
Scientists, staff and friends of Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory have built a reputation for wearing outfits created from skunk cabbage leaves.
If getting wet isn't your idea of fun, stay away from the first block of Elk Avenue because after the parade it turns into the wet zone for a big water fight complete with a fire truck.
Be sure to stop by the 4th of July booth on 3rd and Elk for T-shirts, 50/50 raffle tickets and mini American Flags to show your USA pride! You can also sign up for the Pie and Hot Dog Eating contests.
Make sure your float beats out the rest because the top 3 floats, judged by our announcers, will get some gift certificates to some of your favorite local eateries.
Stick around downtown for live music, a food court, face painting and old-fashioned games. Our Pie Eating contest will be held after the parade, winner takes home a prize! The Hot Dog Eating contest will also be held after the parade and the top 3 winners get awesome prizes! There is limited space for the contests, so stop by the 4th of July booth on 3rd and Elk and sign up!
