4th Annual Empty Bowls Dinner
NHS to host 4th Annual Empty Bowls Hunger Awareness Dinner The Crested Butte Community School National Honor Society is hosting the fifth annual Empty Bowls community dinner, a fundraiser and awareness night to bring light to the rise of food insecurity in the Gunnison Valley. In Gunnison County, almost 20% of residents live under the poverty level, often resulting in food insecurity or lack of proper nourishment. Mountain Roots is one of several organizations working to address hunger, poverty, and obesity through targeted access strategies (like food donations, fresh food vouchers, and free cooking classes) that help provide healthy food, build self-sufficiency, and improve health. Empty Bowls is a dinner of soup, salad, and bread, generously provided by local restaurants served in unique pottery souvenir bowls. Empty Bowls will be held Saturday March 4th at McGill’s from 5-8 pm. Entry is $15 with an artisan bowl, $10 for a standard bowl, and $5 for kids or Bring-Your-Own Bowl.
